Course conditions and sunny autumn weather continue leading to good sized field of thirty men and women golfers so there was little excuse for a poor round. But then it was a Stroke event and Murphy's Law of Stroke Competition swings into action with the odd double figures on a hole or three popping out of nowhere to spoil an otherwise great round for most.
Playing off a handicap of 10, Ken shot a round of 80 "off the beater" for a net score of 70 two strokes ahead of runner up Bob Kirkup with his net 72 a count back ahead of the field of consolation ball winners; Peter Wildblood 72, Bill Murray 74, Bruce Fraser 75, John Herd and Denver Webb 76 and Bert Newman and Veterans' skipper Derek Bardwell with 77 net.
Nearest-to-the-Pins were won by Dale Rabett at the 4th and 13th holes while Peter Wildblood edged out first John Herd and then Derek Bardwell at the 6th and 15th holes. The best putter of the day on a countback was Bert Newman with 28 putts in his round.
The week of Monday May 24 through Friday May 29 sees the staging of the Gloucester Veteran's Week of Golf with Individual Stableford events Monday, Tuesday and Thursday followed by a Four Ball better Ball Stableford on the Friday.
