The Stratford Coal 2021 Community Support Program provides funding to a variety of projects, including: indigenous culture programs; infrastructure and landscaping improvements at local schools and pre-schools; environmental programs; IT equipment and activities at schools; community and family events; education and training programs; sportsground upgrades; and healthcare equipment for local health services.
More than 35 representatives from the successful community organisations attended a presentation at the Stroud and District Country Club in late April to celebrate the funding boost and to acknowledge the volunteers who give their time to make the diverse range of community events and projects possible.
"I would like to express my sincere thanks to Stratford Coal for their support and ongoing sponsorship of the challenge over the past eight years," John Walton from the MidCoast Science and Engineering Challenge said.
"We are now excited about our new program, which aims to engage students from years five, six and nine into the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun, practical and team learning environment."
Stratford Coal operations manager, John Cullen was delighted to be providing additional support for local community groups.
"We recognise that community groups are the backbone of any community and even a small donation can go a long way in making positive change in the community," Mr Cullen said.
"This year, we are proud to fund projects that will make a big difference in our community, including upgrading safety, equipment and services at our local schools, additional training for the Booral RFS, community events such as the Gloucester and Stroud annual shows, and high care beds for residents at Stroud Community Lodge.
