On Tuesday June 1, the Gloucester veteran golfers said farewell to Bill Hunter, a long-standing member and sponsor of the club. Bill and his wife Kay retired to a small property in Stratford some 15 years ago and they now migrate north to be with family in Queensland. Bill volunteered time in the pro shop for many years and is known as 'a quiet man' and one of nature's gentlemen. They move to the sunshine state with the heartfelt good wishes of all Gloucester veteran golfers.

The day itself was 'the best of days' with hardly a hint of the winter months the date announced: clear skies , a sunny day, a mild temperature and a gentle breeze. What more could the thirty-three starters on the day one ask?
The event itself was an Individual Stableford sponsored by Maureen and David Hjorth. Rick Paff's 37 points was good enough on the day for a win; he was followed by perennial high achievers Dale Rabbett and Mike Howard both a single point behind on 36 in joint runner-up position. The associated ball competition saw Col Roser, Mark Stone and Peter Wildblood all on 34 points, Sally Higgins 32 and Steve Kriss and John Herd all go home with a golf ball to their credit. Nearest -to-the-Pins were won by Peter Wildblood at the 4th and 13th holes while Dale Rabbett and Roy Crichton did the job at the 6th and 15th holes.
On Tuesday June 8, Ele and Bruce Fraser are sponsoring a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford with an Individual Stableford in conjunction. The following week, Tuesday June 15, there is the first of two rounds of the Gloucester veterans championship an Individual Stope and Putting event sponsored by Jean and Peter Buettel.
