A field of 40 players turned out on Thursday with a pennant practice between the number seven players resulting in the team of Kevin Burley, Gordon Pritchard, Robert Hayes and George Wisemantel winning the prize money defeating Kevin Everett, Graham Turnbull, Mike Sheely and Brian Holstein 30-15. And in other games Tony Tersteeg and Ken Bryant picked up an eight but felt sorry for the opposition and gave away a seven but still ran out winners over Terry Higgins and Robbie Bowden 31-17, Jim Henderson, Chris Pritchard and Max Stevens played a 15 all draw with Wayne Groves, Alex Laurie and Jim McIntosh, John Andrews, Clive Redman, Harry Cox defeated Lu Urby, Steve Kriss and Doug Barron 19-11 and Andrew Henderson, Paul Sheridan, Graham Holstein proved too strong for Peter Sansom, Terry Carson and James Davison winning 23-12.

Mixed bowls on Saturday morning resulted in a win for the team of Joan Ridgeway, Bev Murray and Joy Hurworth defeating Steve Kriss, Judy Sheely and Terry Davies 21-11 and Stephen Hurworth combined with Di Lockwood to defeat Nico Duynhoven and Julie Kriss 15-8.
The first round of the men's triples championships were contested on Saturday in shocking weather conditions but the second round on Sunday was cancelled and will now be played on Saturday afternoon June 26 commencing at 1pm.
Entries are now open for the minor singles closing on July 15 with the first round scheduled for Saturday July 24.
