Veteran's captain Derek Bardwell nudged out his closest competitor on a count back for a win in the Gloucester Veterans Golf Club's Individual Stroke event played on Tuesday July 20.

Once again the weather was just perfect, although the course played a little on the heavy side with little run as the course recovered from the recent rain. That said, all the signs are of the ground drying out nicely with everyone looking forward to more favourable conditions over the next few weeks.
Marj and Ken Clarke sponsored the Individual Stroke and Putting competition which was won by Derek with a net round of 75, a count aback ahead of second place getter Rick Paff also with a net 75.
Balls in the associated ball competition were won by Rick Paff 75, Ian Maggs and Jim Russell 77, Phil Paterson, Steve Kriss, Mike Howard, Gary Peters and Brian McInnes all scoring 78 net with Trevor Sharp picking up a ball for an excellent round ahead of earning a formal handicap.
The putting competition was won by Rick Paff and Brian McInnes each with a miserly 27 putts in their eighteen-hole round.
On Tuesday July 27, the veteran golfers are hosting an Individual Stableford ahead of its annual lunch and annual general meeting. The following Tuesday there is another Individual Stableford.
