Taree has also been listed as an area of concern following growing case numbers. There have been 26 COVID cases detected in the Mid Coast local government area since August 5.
In response to the lifting of lockdown on Monday, an emergency response centre has been established in Taree.
Anyone who attended the Exchange Hotel in Victoria Street, Taree, on Sunday, October 3 between 11am and 1pm, or Monday, October 4 between 8.45pm and 9.45pm, are casual contacts (unless they have been notified by NSW Health that they are a close contact) and must get tested and isolate until a negative test result is received.
Member for Myall lakes, Stephen Bromhead reported The Greenhouse cafe in Nabiac also had a COVID positive person attend on Saturday, October 2 between 12:21pm and 2:30pm on Saturday. Staff members have been tested. he said.
The virus that causes COVID-19 was detected in samples from sewage catchments in Forster, Muswellbrook and Dungog on October 6. Earlier this week the virus was detected in Taree sewage.
Pop-up walk in Pfizer vaccinations are available this weekend, open to everyone aged 12 years and older but priority given to people who:
- Live in social housing
- Are experiencing homelessness
- Are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- Have disability or significant health problems
The clinics afre located at:
- Bushland (mobile clinic): Saturday October 9 and Sunday October 10 from 11am Bushland Drive area
- Taree Clinic: Open to everyone aged 12 years and older Sunday, October 10 from 10am-2pm 56 Chatham Ave, Taree
NSW recorded 580 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This brings the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 68,057.
Sadly, NSW Health is reporting the deaths of 11 people who had COVID-19 - three women and eight men. One person was in their 50s, one was in their 60s, four people were in their 70s, two were in their 80s, and three were in their 90s.
The 98 new cases were reported in the Hunter New England Health (HNEH) district in the latest reporting period, taking the total number in the current outbreak to 1630. There are currently 1074 active cases in the health district.
- 28 are from Lake Macquarie LGA - 2 in Belmont North, 1 in Belmont South, 5 in Bolton Point, 1 in Bonnells Bay, 1 in Charlestown, 1 in Gateshead, 1 in Morisset, 2 in Mount Hutton, 1 in Swansea, 3 in Toronto, 2 in Warners Bay, 8 in Windale
- 24 are from Cessnock LGA - 2 in Aberdare, 3 in Abermain, 8 in Cessnock, 2 in Cliftleigh, 1 in Congewei, 1 in East Branxton, 1 in Ellalong, 1 in Kearsley, 1 in Kurri Kurri, 1 in Lovedale, 1 in Paxton, 2 in Weston
- 13 are from Maitland LGA - 2 in Aberglasslyn, 1 in Bolwarra Heights, 3 in East Maitland, 2 in Maitland, 1 in Rutherford, 3 in Thornton, 1 in Woodberry
- 15 are from Newcastle LGA - 1 in Cooks Hill, 1 in Fletcher, 2 in Hamilton East, 1 in Lambton, 2 in Mayfield, 3 in Merewether, 1 in Merewether Heights, 1 in Shortland, 1 in Wallsend, 1 in Waratah, 1 in Waratah West
- 5 are from Tamworth Regional LGA - 1 in Calala, 2 in Oxley Vale, 1 in South Tamworth, 1 in West Tamworth
- 4 are from Mid Coast LGA - 1 in Purfleet, 3 in Taree
- 4 are from Muswellbrook LGA - 3 in Muswellbrook, 1 in Muswellbrook South
- 1 is from Glen Innes Severn - 1 in Emmaville
- 1 is from Gunnedah LGA - 1 in Gunnedah
- 1 is from Port Stephens LGA - 1 in Karuah
- 1 is from Singleton LGA - 1 in Broke
- 1 is from Upper Hunter Shire LGA - 1 in Green Creek
Twenty eight of the total active cases are currently being cared for in hospital and three are currently in ICU; 48 are linked, 21 are unlinked, and 29 are still under investigation.
Forty one were infectious in the community, 45 were isolating while infectious, 12 are still under investigation.
