Council's director of infrastructure and engineering services, Rob Scott said the open day had been planned for some time.
"We've wanted to invite the community along to the water treatment plant to give people an insight into how it all works, but unfortunately the pandemic has made that difficult," Mr Scott said. "Now with restrictions easing, we're excited to open our doors.
"A lot has been happening in Gloucester this year, from the town's water upgrade to the issues around copper pipe pitting, and we wanted to give community members an opportunity to come along and see what we do and have some frank and open discussions about their water supply."
The event will begin at the Gloucester Senior Citizens Centre, 30 Hume Street, where council's Manager of Water Management and Treatment, Chenxi Zeng will provide an overview of the Gloucester water supply system.
A bus will then transport attendees to the water treatment plant, where one of the plant's operators will provide a guided tour and explain each step of the treatment process.
Following the tour, a complimentary light lunch will be provided along with transport back to the Senior Citizens Centre.
"We really hope this event will be informative and promote a greater understanding of how we manage the community's water," Mr Scott said.
Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP at https://au.openforms.com/Form/18b574f0-00d6-412f-aba9-4cf01fa9b015 by 5pm on Thursday November 4.
Masks will be required to be worn while indoors and due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will be limited to a maximum of 55 people.
