In the end, Max Shepherd just managed to get home a stroke ahead of Peter Buettel.
The event was an Individual Stroke competition with an ancillary prize for the least number of putts in the round. The special significance of the day was that was in honour of Bill Radford, a former luminary of veteran golfing at Gloucester. Bill was a long-standing member and office bearer of the Gloucester veterans who passed away a few years ago. He is remembered by all veterans at Gloucester.
Max won with a net score for his great round of 67. He was closely followed at 68 by Peter in the runner up spot with ball going to two players with a net score of 69, Brian McInnes and Steve Hurworth 69. Denver Webb and Gary Peters 71 were next followed by Peter Wildblood and Greg Lindsay 72. And a gaggle of players on 73, Peter McIntyre, Derek Bardwell, Trevor Sharp and Dale Rabbett. The putting was headed by Brian McInnes with 27 putts and Dave Mann 29.
On Tuesday October 26, the Gloucester veteran golfers will be playing an Irish Four Ball with an Individual Stableford in conjunction all of which is sponsored by Robyn and Tony Burnet and Margaret and Jim Dunn. The following Tuesday is occupied by a special Melbourne Cup event and the veteran golfers will be playing an Individual Stableford on Monday November 1.
