Busy at the green with matches a plenty

Last Wednesday (October 20) saw a very full green for the Gloucester Women's Bowling Club, with matches for Minor Singles and Thelma Bolton Pairs being contested, as well as two social games.

In the Minor Singles, Colleen Atkins defeated June Carter, 25-18, Pattie West defeated Joy Hurworth, 25-11, and Katharine Stuckings defeated Di Lockwood, 26-10.

This Wednesday (October 27), in the semi-finals, it will be Colleen Atkins v Pattie West and Katharine Stuckings v Jeanette Mumford.

In the Thelma Bolton Pairs, Pat Cox and Jenny Burley defeated Margaret Andrews and Jan Jones and Bev Germon and Lorraine Ratcliffe defeated Jean Holstein and Sue Bryant.

There was one game of pairs in the social games, played on rink 14 (outside rink), which proved to be very unpredictable and almost unplayable with bowls having a mind of their own, resulting in Di Pritchard and Val Pritchard defeating Bev Murray and Norma Relf, 19-14. And in other game, Joan Ridgeway, Vera Whatmore and Helen Banks defeating Jill Everett, Judy Sheely and Jeanette Mumford, 20-16.
