The bridge was damaged during the major flood in March. The water flow was so fast and furious it washed a large amount of debris down Billabong Creek causing damage to the bridge.
A spokesperson for council said the community spaces team is currently reviewing quotes for the repair of the bridge.
"At this stage, they would expect to commence works early in the new year," the spokesperson said.
The bridge is the main connector over Billabong Creek for the two sides the park located in the centre of town. It links the children's playground side that borders Boundary Street with the main picnic and stage area on the town side bordering Billabong car park.
Council has marked off a small by-pass in the creek bed at the side of the bridge for people to use in the interim.
