The Mid Coast Local Government Area (LGA) has recorded 21 new COVID cases to the 24 hours to 8pm Wednesday night, November 17.

This is the seventh day in a row that the Mid Coast LGA has recorded the most amount of COVID cases in the Hunter New England Health District (HNEH).
Nine of the cases are from Taree, four from Wingham, three from Tinonee, two from Tuncurry, one from Bootawa, one from Cundletown, and one from Koorainghat.
Hunter New England Population Health public health physician, Dr David Durrheim said testing is strongly encouraged across the Mid Coast LGA with 85 cases reported in the last five days to Thursday, November 18.
Dr Durrheim said 16 towns and villages in the LGA have been impacted because of children attending the same schools.
"We are begging parents don't send your children to school ill. Make sure you get a COVID test, keep them at home, isolate until you get a negative result.
In Taree, testing is available at:
- Taree Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology Walk-In Clinic from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday
- Taree Respiratory Clinic from 11:00am to 1:00pm daily
- Taree Showground Histopath Pathology Drive-through Clinic from 8:00am to 4:00pm daily
The 21 new cases are included in the 53 cases for the HNEH District.
Twenty one are from Mid Coast LGA, 13 are from Moree Plains LGA, six are from Newcastle LGA, three are from Cessnock LGA, three are from Lake Macquarie LGA, three are from Port Stephens LGA, three are from Tamworth LGA and one is from Singleton LGA.
Fifteen of the total active cases in HNEH district are currently being cared for in hospital. 4 are currently in ICU.
Twenty nine cases are linked, 14 are unlinked, 10 are still under investigation, and 21 were infectious in the community.
Twenty two were isolating while infectious.
