In the preceding week there was lots of rain, to use a technical term for these things, and only those willing to drag themselves around without a golf cart were able to play.
A two person ambrose sponsored by Gloucester Furniture One was on the schedule but without carts only intrepid walkers were able to play so the event actually staged was an individual stableford.
The fact that only eight turned up also meant it was "across the field" rather than the normal three competition grades.
As it happens, all players reported that the course played very much better than they expected which augurs well for golf in the coming week.
The day's winner was Rob Parish with a really impressive score of 38 stableford points; Jamie Andrews 35 and John Parish 34 came home in second and third positions respectively but only picked up a ball for their hard work. Rob Parish won the only Nearest-to-the-Pin on offer on par 3 holes while Jamie Andrews was Nearest-to-the-Pin-in-Three at the relevant par 5 hole on the day.
Super sevens had a showing during the week also with six players braving the odds during the week ending Friday, November 26.
Club president, Wayne Maddalena, won on a count back from Graeme Marsh the only ball winner both scoring 14 stableford points, a good effort in the conditions.
Next Saturday, December 4, there will be the monthly medal an individual stroke event with the medal going to the best net score across the field and with net and gross winners in three grades. The Back Bar Day will follow on the Sunday, December 5 and on Saturday, December 11, there will be the postponed two person ambrose sponsored by Gloucester Furniture One.
