So were some of the comments after last year’s Opera in the Church and this year’s programs are promising to be equally inspiring.
Sharolyn Kimmorley AM is recognised as one of Australia’s finest vocal coaches and accompanists and has accompanied some of the world’s most distinguished performers including Dame Joan Sutherland, Bryn Terfel, Teddy Tahu Rhodes and David Hobson. In July she will be guest vocal coach at the Tiroler Festepiele in Erl, Austria.
For the past nine years she has brought a group of the rising stars of opera to Gloucester to entertain us and to provide a valuable performance opportunity for them.
This year, there will be six singers in all presenting a wide variety of songs by Lerner and Loewe, Rossini, Mozart, Bizet, Gilbert and Sullivan, Schumann, Verdi and Strauss and many more with two distinct programs.
Lauren Fagan is returning to Gloucester before taking up a two year scholarship at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and we will meet Kyla Allen, Michaela Leisk, Randall Stewart, Samuel Sakker and Josh Salter.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gloucester, Opera in the Church commences at 7.30pm this Friday and Saturday and the Uniting Church women will again be catering for a delicious supper at interval.
Tickets have remained at $35 each and are available from Gloucester Health Foods and Webb Bros.
Come and share this wonderful musical experience in Gloucester.
