It will be the first time Mace has performed in Gloucester and he will be joined by another newcomer in poet and author Bob Bush.
Peter is a three-time winner of the prestigious Golden Damper Award at the Tamworth bush poetry competition, was a past Reciter of the Year at the National Folk Festival and best male performer at the Man From Snowy River Festival.
Bob began writing and reciting poetry 19 years ago during a trip across the Simpson Desert.
Sitting around the campfire at night he would relate the day’s events and mishaps in rhyming verse.
He is currently promoting his fourth book ‘From a Bush Poet’s Pen’.
Joining both men will be Gloucester locals and Bush Poetry at the Saleyards regulars Claire Reynolds and Gabby Colquhoun.
Both women are past NSW champions and share the same positive, cheery outlook on life - as well as a love of talking.
This is the fourth year the event has been run in Gloucester by the Rotary Club.
“Bush poetry is becoming increasingly popular,” organiser Kaye Stelzer said.
“What makes this event so unique is the venue.”
The evening will start with entertainment from local band the Bowden Brothers and costs $20 per person.
All money raised from the event will go to the Helping Hands of Hillcrest aged care charity.
Bush Poetry in the Saleyards has already raised more than $10,000 for the Hillcrest nursing home.
Those attending are invited to bring along a picnic dinner (BYO alcohol) and a cushion.
There will be a $2 raffle with prizes donated by the artists while CDs and books will also be offered for sale.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from Gloucester Real Estate, Gloucester Health Foods and Gloucester Visitor Information Centre.
