The study, funded through a joint collaboration between council and AGL, will examine and characterise flood behaviour and develop computer models and maps which will show the predicted extent of future flooding events.
The study will specifically focus on the Gloucester and Avon catchments, which includes the Avon River floodplain, Gloucester township and the floodplains of the Gloucester and Barrington rivers upstream to Forbesdale.
The study will be completed by consultancy group BMT WBM and overseen by council.
Gloucester residents with information about previous flood events, including photos and video, are urged to contribute to the study.
To contribute to the study contact council’s water scientist Kate Johnson on 6538 5203 or BMT WBM project manager Daniel Williams on 4940 8882.
