GLOUCESTER was displayed in its best light over the October long weekend when the town hosted the 2014 Gloucester Open White AMT and junior tennis tournament.

The tournament was contested over three and a half spectacular days with some exceptional tennis played by some of the State’s best competitors.
A total of 280 players entered more than 30 events in the Tennis NSW sanctioned tournament which saw all 15 courts utilised from dawn to well past dusk.
Many players had not been to Gloucester before and could not believe its beauty and warmth.
Those that returned from previous years said they would definitely be back again.
Number one seed Alex Silcock defeated number two seed Joel Herbert in the AMT men’s singles final 6-1 6-1.
Number two seed Monique Burton played a torrid final against Renee Beck in the AMT women’s final to win 3-6 6-0 6-2.
Local players Brett Ashton and Paul Kellehear played a close match against Mick Crebert and Brian Mason in the special men’s doubles event but were defeated 8-7.
Organisers of the tournament were delighted to receive confirmation that Tennis NSW had sanctioned the tournament again for the October long weekend in 2015.
The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all volunteers who assisted over the weekend.
