Show society president Howard Shultz said the “mood was terrific” during both days.
The show was officially opened by Gloucester’s Citizen of the Year Shirley Hazell on Saturday with a real focus on community and youth participation.
School children enjoyed interactive activities including a bee display with live bees that had the honey making process explained, a Tucker Patch activity that demonstrated the link between bees and food production and painting rocks as pollinators and an animal nursery that had baby animals and information on each breed.
There was a photography workshop teaching young children how to take a photo of animals with Adele Compton, a fine arts section with hands on mural making and clay sculpture and a floral art section making vegetable animals.
More than 400 runs were completed during the campdraft on Friday with the main ring supporting horse and novelty events including a motocross demonstration, Farmer’s Challenge and demolition derby.
“The show finished with a fantastic fireworks display that went for longer than previous years,” Mr Shultz said.
“We’re extremely thankful for all the help and support we received from the whole Gloucester community.”
