For the first time in 27 years, residents will not be able to vote for sitting Upper Hunter MP George Souris after the long-time Nationals member announced he would retire from State Parliament late last year.
Six candidates have nominated for the seat of Upper Hunter.
The Nationals will be represented by Michael Johnsen while Labor is hoping Muswellbrook mayor Martin Rush can win the seat.
Independent Lee Watts has been campaigning across the electorate for the past 18 months.
The Greens John Kaye, Christian Democrat Richard Stretton and the No Land Tax Party’s Lousia Checchin are the three remaining candidates.
Polls open at 8am on Saturday and close at 6pm.
Voters in Gloucester can cast their ballot at either the Senior Citizens Centre or Gloucester High School.
Barrington, Stratford, Stroud Road, Stroud and Booral public schools are the other locations where people can cast their vote.
