The book, full of poems about Gloucester life sold out in a matter of hours.
So successful and sort after was the book, Mrs Higgins has decided to order another 100 copies be printed.
“It was way beyond my wildest dreams,” Mrs Higgins said.
“It is an amazing feeling, I think I’m still in a bit of disbelief.
“Most people seemed to love the book and we sold out of copies pretty fast.”
Mrs Higgins absorbed the printing costs allowing for 100 per cent of the profit from the sales to go to Neuroscience Research Australia.
The book was entirely produced with the town of Gloucester in mind.
It consists of 24 poems about the town and several of its identities.
Even the artwork was provided by local artists.
“All of the poems in the book are about Gloucester, the surrounding areas and some of the colourful characters,” she said.
More than 60 people packed into the Gloucester Book Shop for the launch on Friday when the 100 copies were sold.
The next 100 copies will be available within the fortnight at $15 a piece from the Gloucester Book Shop.
