First up was Gloucester versus Taree, a clenching nail-biter which according to Gloucester’s careers advisor Michael De Angelis caused “many of their travelling fans to experience anxiety and heart palpitations.”
“Gloucester trailed behind Taree for the majority of the game but thanks to the ancient wisdom delivered by coach Julian Schneider, they eventually found form, picked up their defence and playing as a team,” he said.
Lincoln Cox scored the winning two point goal a split second before the buzzer which was already in over-time. Gloucester defeated Taree 34 – 33. Top scorer was Rhys Cox on 13 points.
Gloucester’s second game was against Wingham and at half time was tied 11-11. Charging into the second half, Gloucester soon took the lead and defeated Wingham 33-23. Top scorer was Kieran Schneider on 10.
“A special thanks to all the parents and families for their unconditional support, to coach Julian Schneider for his expertise and to Kent Baker for his consistent lunch-time practices at school.”
The team will travel down to Tomaree on Monday August 24 for the next round of the Shield.
