Neil Simon’s Fools, with its elements of zaniness, inanity and sheer silliness was a delight to watch and a wonderful two hour-long entertainment experience.
Tightly directed by Scott Davis, and beautifully cast, the audience was captivated by the events on stage as they moved along at a cracking pace and not a foot set wrong!
Colourful costumes – and wigs! – strong delivery of lines, well-sustained performances and continuous waves of laughter completed the picture. And how refreshing it was to see a complete, visually interesting and totally appropriate set on stage in this age of theatrical minimalism and suggestion.
We should be grateful that the cast and crew – all local identities – have given up their time and effort in providing entertainment of this calibre. Hours of rehearsal, learning lines, building the set, refining and re-adjusting.
All worth it in the end when the audience is so involved. And involved they were – so much so that they were later a little taken aback when invited to indulge in some audience participation!
Thank you GACCI Players. More please!
