Gloucester Library hosted the annual National Simultaneous Storytime for Gloucester Pre-School as a way of encouraging children to read and enjoy books. It’s the 16th year of the event during which the same picture storybook, written and illustrated by Australians, is read at the same time.
James Hooke, Chair of Arts Upper Hunter and Pippa Robinson, former member of Arts Upper Hunter wore special hats while they read I Got This Hat written by Jol and Kate Temple and illustrated by Jon Foye to the kids.
The Australian Library and Information Association started the campaign to promote the value and fun of books. They invite libraries, school, pre-schools, bookshops and many other places around the country to participate.
Gloucester Library would like to thank Mr Hooke and Ms Robinson for their time and Adele Compton for loaning the eight colourful felt hats used to decorate for the theme.
