The grant winners were presented with letters indicating the amount given to their group at a morning tea held on Wednesday June 8.
The Gloucester Returned and Services League of Australia (RSL) sub branch applied for funds to purchase new folding chairs for services, like Anzac day, held at the War Memorial.
RSL member Bob Hewett says the current chairs are old, heavy and unsafe. At the moment, the members have to carry the chairs when setting up for a service at Gloucester Memorial Park.
“This is a real problem given the age and physical health of our members,” says Mr Hewett.
An other issue for the club is storing the chairs which are big and bulky. The grant money will go toward the purchasing lighter chairs which can be stored more easily.
The other groups to receive grants are:
- Dymocks Children’s Charities Ltd for Gloucester School Public Library Regeneration Project
