It’s a student run event providing UNE’s agricultural students opportunities to start planning their future as well as providing information for high school and TAFE students about the variety of careers agriculture has to offer.
A careers fair will be held where industry representatives and stud farmers can promote their business and tell their story of how they got where they are now.
Farming Futures stems from the current agricultural issues and the continued demand for new, innovative and sustainable development in the industry.
This year, a schools program is offered for students to explore agricultural based degrees at UNE.
Schools from local and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend the fair, giving students the opportunity to talk to stallholders about future job prospects.
Graduates, academics and businesses will run seminars on the day.
There will be an industry dinner for students and industry representatives for a night of agricultural enlightenment.
Students are encouraged to sit with a professional to talk one on one.
Graduates are also invited to attend.
Dee George, 2015 Graduate of Rural Science will be chairperson of the dinner.
The dinner will also include an auction to raise funds for chosen charity, Buy A Bale.
The careers fair and dinner will be held on Friday July 29, at UNE, Armidale.
Farming Futures is a student-run group at the University of New England who hold an annual agricultural Careers Fair, Industry Dinner and Schools’ Program.
The UNE is a public university with approximately 21,000 students. Its original and main campus is located in Armidale .
