Both teams sported a very full line up in a match in which the teams fought hard to the final whistle. The Tigers, led in the centre by Ryan Marzato, made some great plays to get through a strong Dragons' defence but the likes of Ella Howe was unbeatable in the backs for the Dragons.
The Dragons too made some great plays for goal with players such as Tristan Beard and Justin Battams proving their worth with some individual breaks only to be thwarted by a solid Tigers defence in Ruby Cliffe and Chloe Reid.
Both teams clearly wanted the win and were not willing to concede their defence at any stage. With no result by full time, play went into extra time again with no result. The call was made to declare a joint premiership.
Competition organiser, Ollie Rinkin said he was very proud of the way the day went.
“Both teams have struggled throughout the competition and to finish with a draw is a great result for two teams who put their all into the grand final."
A presentation was held after the match with the awards presented by Toby Wilson, an honorary member and patron of the club for 45 years. Toby was the original instigator who got the lights put on at the Number 1 Oval when hockey used to be played there. Although a rugby league player, he has always supported the hockey club, helping with raffles and making donations each year.
