That’s the question being posed by the team at MidCoast Council to residents and ratepayers over the coming months, as a new identity is developed to represent the diverse communities of the Great Lakes, Manning and Gloucester regions.

The community is invited to participate in a process that aims to identify each community’s unique assets, discover the values that bring us together, and provide a vision for the future direction of the MidCoast region.  

Along with a survey which is now open online at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/Identity, feedback can be provided by email, on social media, by phone or in person at council offices and libraries.

“We’re keen to hear from people across the entire region so we can develop a new identity which resonates with our communities,” said Paul De Szell, director of Community Spaces and Services.

The objective is to create a dynamic place brand that will become immediately recognisable as MidCoast, both within our region and beyond.” 

Following collation of all feedback and a series of community focus groups, two visual identity options will be developed in consultation with a steering committee comprising representatives from the focus groups and a design team.

“In November, the two options will be placed on exhibition and our community will be invited to vote for the identity they believe most accurately represents them and their aspirations for the MidCoast region”, Paul added.

The final and ongoing stage of the project will see the new identity, or place brand, being incrementally rolled out across MidCoast Council’s assets, places and services.

The online survey will close at midnight on October 19.
