New Lambton’s Bec Ransom won the International Lingerie Model of the Year title, having competed against girls from Australia and New Zealand.
The 34-year-old defeated much younger girls to take the crown.
She underwent a gruelling fitness regime to get herself in contention for the title.
“I trained hard,” she said, adding her regimen involved CrossFit workouts, yoga, dance and boxing.
“I had to push it to the next level.”
Getting in the right frame of mind was another challenge.
“I’m a big believer in positive thinking and visualisation,” she said.
She believes in goal-setting and having dreams.
Part of her visualisation process was imagining herself in the Big Apple, which is on her bucket list.
“The end goal was to be in New York. That’s the kind of feeling I tried to focus on,” she said.
Her prize for winning the title was an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas next year, where she’ll do a runway show.
From there, she’ll head to New York – fulfilling her dream.
The inspirational character works incredibly hard.
She works full-time at health insurer nib, owns Core Espresso in Darby Street and has a four-year-old daughter.
“I’m a big believer in being stronger than your excuses,” she said.
When she was younger, she competed in many modelling competitions.
She was crowned Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia back in 2002.
She had the time of her life in those days, so she decided to compete again.
“I’m super busy, but I wanted to do something for me that I loved,” she said.
She claimed the lingerie title last Friday at Sin City Nightclub in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.
“Hanging out with beautiful girls and having an amazing time – why would you not want to do that again?”, she said.
“The fact I could still do it, took me a bit by surprise.”
After the win, she had “a couple of Espresso Martinis” to celebrate.
This was no surprise, given her love for coffee.
“I can’t function without it,” she said.
Good nutrition also helped.
“I’m all about clean eating,” she said, adding her cafe embraced this philosophy.
Bec had previously done a lot of swimsuit modelling.
Lingerie was something different.
“Lingerie can give women an amazing feeling and confidence boost. I love it,” she said.
The lingerie competition was inspired by Victoria's Secret shows.
“The Victoria's Secret models are the sexiest women in the whole world,” Bec said.
“Every girl dreams of being that.”
She thanked the Sydney Junction Hotel at Hamilton for hosting the competition’s Newcastle heat and supporting her bid for the title.
