Gloucester Pre-school will be able to offer 14 new jobs as part of the business expansion which includes a new Long Day Care Service, thanks to AGL’s Gloucester Independent Community Legacy Fund (GICLF).
Gloucester Pre-School is the fifth grant recipient to be announced under the GICLF’s first round of funding, taking the new job total to 50.
The preschool was established in 1972 as a community-based not-for-profit provider of care for children aged three to five.
“In their funding application, it was demonstrated how the service has grown continually to a five day service with up to 49 children enrolled,’ GICLF chair, Tanya Cameron said.
“With the new Early Years Learning Centre, 80 percent operation capacity would deliver 14 permanent full-time jobs and provide work experience opportunities for local students.
“An additional benefit will be the establishment of a free workspace for an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer to provide programs and support for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the region,” Ms Cameron said.
AGL established the $2 million fund this year to identify and allocate funding toward, initiatives that bring sustainable economic benefit or education and employment pathways to the greater Gloucester region.
