Congratulations to the Gloucester Sustainable Futures Convention for receiving a Highly Commended for Sustainable Systems Award in the 2016 Keep NSW Beautiful Blue Star Sustainability Awards.
The Gloucester Tidy Towns committee has been celebrating the three awards winners from the awards held last November.
The May 2015 Convention was recognised for showcasing the best of Gloucester’s organisation, energy and commitment to a vibrant community, one that is sustainable socially, economically, environmentally and culturally.
The organising committee; Kerry Hartigan, Sue Kingston, Sue Watts, Julie Lyford and Janine Phillips provided a wide-ranging program that attracted around 200 attendees and an exciting lineup of speakers including social change makers, sustainable industry representatives, business people, artists and church leaders.
It provided an opportunity for locals to contribute and learn and also drew in people from across the wider region for a weekend about innovative ideas and better community.
Energise Gloucester was formed after the convention with the purpose of helping homeowners and businesses transition to a renewal energy solution. The next Gloucester Sustainable Futures Convention will be held in March and promises a great chance for the community to engage with new possibilities that can provide a successful future.
