Players were supposed to play their first run of the season at the Lower North Coast Rugby Union gala day at Old Bar last Saturday.
The gala is organised every year between the teams to help build up interest in the sport.
They rotate the location of the day to ensure each club gets the chance to fundraise through the canteen.
But this year, the continual rain made the field too wet for play.
So it’s back to the regular training schedule of every Tuesday and Thursday night at the Number One Oval in Gloucester.
Cockies co-vice president Tim Threadgate said things are looking positive for the coming season.
“Over the past couple of years, we have lost some of our experienced players,” Tim said.
The team has had some new players come aboard this year, some who are completely new to the sport.
“They are going quite well; picking it up quick.”
The season kicks off on April 1 with the first game to be played at home.
They take on the Wallamba Bulls on the Saturday afternoon at the Number One Oval.
