The club sent 13 players down to Macarthur Hockey Complex in Narellan to represent the club on Sunday, August 6.
Toreen Denyer, Darcey Fry, Selina Denyer, Sam Ellis, Ryan Beggs, Nathan Woods, Jackson Blanch, Nick Maslen, Justin Battams, Kayla Blanch, Dean Germon, Charli Macdonald and Jackson Moore donned the greens to take on teams from around the region.
Coach, Ollie Rinkin, said the whole team played well together through the day long competition only just missing out on second place.
“Gloucester only had two goals against them in the six games they played,” he said.
“The whole team played well and the parents should be roud of the manner in which our team played on the field and their behaviour off the field.”
They won the first game against Sutherland Rebels, 1-0. After several attempts, Ryan Beggs finally scored the goal to take the game.
Game two was a nil draw against Goulburn Red with Gloucester holding off Goulburn who had won their first game 5-0.
Game three was played against the Illawarra South Coast Hockey with Dean Germon making the only two goals of the match.
Their first loss game in game four to Macarthur Skylander Maroon, losing 1-nil, with the goal scored in the last eight minutes of play.
Gloucester fought back in game five, beating Moorebank, 3-0 with Toreen Denyer scoring her first goal in the first 40 seconds of play. She then scored a second goal followed by Dean Germon scoring the third.
The last game of the day was played against Newcastle Number One’s for the runner up position in the competition.
The team put up a good fight holding out until the last 15 minutes, with Newcastle scoring the only goal of the game. Gloucester’s 1-0 loss meant they just missed out on second place.
“It was a long trip home after the match, but worth it.
“Look out carnivals 2018,” Ollie said after the Gloucester players showed potential for the next season.
