The St Joseph’s Primary School year six student had qualified at the end of last school term for the shot put event and travelled down to Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre to compete against 40 boys, aged 12 and 13 years.
The event was held over two days, Wednesday, October 18 and Thursday, October 19, with Anthony taking to the field early Wednesday morning.
He would have liked to have thrown a personal best but he was happy with his result.

To qualify, he first won at school level, then he moved into the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle NSW Polding Athletics Carnival 2017, where he competed against students from Newcastle to Lismore.
The 12-year-old came third in senior shot put at the event held on Friday, September 9 at the Hunter Sports Centre in Glendale.
He was among the 30 students who qualified for the Polding squad to represent at the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships against all the other primary school qualifiers.
Anthony had three attempts at putting, with the best distance of the three taken.
His final distance was 9.77 metres placing him 21st out of 41. His mother, Jennie Shultz said he would have liked to have thrown a personal best but he was happy with his result.
Anthony has recently rejoined Gloucester’s Little Athletics after a brief two year stint when he was five or six-years old.
He started up at the beginning of this season and after his recent success will be looking to continue into the future. Just before the championship event, Anthony threw at personal best of 10.02 metres at Gloucester Little As.
