MidCoast Council residents can visit their local reuse centre or Ttp Shop during National Recycling Week to either find a bargain or drop off pre-loved goods and be in the draw for a $50 re-use centre voucher.
Reuse centres sell quality used, second hand products that have been salvaged or donated rather than ending up in landfill, making a great place to find a bargain. They and are stocked with products such as household furnishings, collectables, books, toys, sporting equipment, and so much more. Simply drop off your unwanted reusable items, ensuring goods get a second life and are kept out of landfill, saving space and helping to protect our environment by making the most of the resources we use.
On Saturday, November 18 between 9.30am and 3.30pm, all residents are welcome to celebrate National Recycling week at the Tuncurry Community Recycling Centre. There will be workshops on composting, bike repairs, bees wax wraps and eco cleaning demonstrations, yummy food and other fun activities.
In the lead up to event, the transfer station and Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) will be holding tours on Tuesday, November 14 and Thursday, November 16 at 10am. You will be guided through the Community recycling center and transfer station, learning how to best minimize your waste going to landfill, and how you can save money in doing so. Afterwards, you will get an opportunity for a birds eye view off the sorting of your yellow bin from the MRF education room. The education officer will be on hand to answer you most common recycling questions and explain what goes where.
Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week, which runs from November 13–19, highlights the environmental benefits of reuse and recycling programs, while making participation enjoyable and easy through a number of community events and programs. This project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.
