For the ninth consecutive year, Gloucester Showground will be home to the Gloucester Motorcycle Expo.
The Rotary Club of Gloucester event, that started out as just an expo for motorcycle enthusiasts, has grown into quite the spectacle.
“Bigger and better,” is what the Rotary say will be the feature of this year’s expo on May 6.
They have partnered with major sponsor, Holiday Coast Credit Union to hold an event which will cater for all things motorcycle in a friendly café style atmosphere.
They have incorporated a two day Vintage Motocross (VMX) Event into the weekend with a purpose-built track in the showground arena.
There will also be the usual trade displays, accessory suppliers and Ulysses Show n Shine.
Last year there were about 1500 motorcyclists and visitors through the gates, and the organisers are confident that number will be around 2000 this year.
This year the band is The Pulse, with frontman Paul Harris, and the bar will be open from midday to 11pm. Food and drink will be available with several stalls plus the AH and P will supply a hearty dinner.
This year organisers are providing a courtesy bus to help transport the visitors who are staying in town, as well as the locals who want to enjoy the event and not have to drive.
Long term supporters of the expo include Ashley Beaton of North Coast V-Twins, Brisans of Newcastle, Taree Honda, Nabiac Motorcycle Museum, Bikie Chic, Elite Trailers, Blackbird Clothing, Mud n Tar of Wauchope, All hours Tyres, Snap on Tools and Holiday Coast Credit Union plus accessories and apparel suppliers.
“The 2017 moto expo will have something for everyone,” event co-organiser Sam de Witte said. “There’ll be lots of action with the VMX racing, more exhibitors than ever, a great band and even racing under lights on the Saturday night.”
Gates open at 9am on Saturday, May 6 and entry is $20 (or $15 when booked online) which includes camping and entry into the raffle drawn on Saturday afternoon. More details are on the website www.gloucestermotoexpo.com.au or contact Sam de Witte or Peter Markey.
