A rebuilding Cockies outfit finished one game shy of last year’s Lower Mid North Coast Rugby Union grand final, losing to the Manning River Ratz in a brutal encounter 24-17.
Coach Jamie Andrews said the club’s focus would be to carry the momentum through to the coming season.
“We were happy with last year, now we want to go that extra step,” he said.
Andrews said the Cockies line-up would be largely unchanged from 2013.
“There are a few new guys coming from Dungog way,” he said.
“We haven’t lost anyone. There is still that same core group of players that took us to the elimination final last year.
“But as always, any new faces looking for a game are more than welcome.”
Training kicks off at 6.30pm at number one oval.
The Cockies will play reigning premiers the Forster Dolphins in their opening match of the season in Tuncurry on May 3.
