The framed OAM was presented to Gloucester Historical Society vice president Kerrie Green in a small ceremony on Monday by former mayor and good friend Barry Ryan.
Ms Mason’s Centenary Medal and a 20-year service medal for her work in local government were also included.
Ms Mason served as a councillor for 25 years and was president of the Gloucester Historical Society from 2005 to 2008.
“Margaret was very particular in her will about what she wanted done with her remaining possessions,” Mr Ryan said.
“However, there was no mention of what she wanted done with her medals.
“Margaret was very keen on the historical society and felt strongly about the work it does, so it’s only appropriate that the medals end up here.”
