The show society is looking for its 2015 Miss Gloucester Showgirl and, for the first time, will give a young Gloucester local the chance to be crowned the district’s outstanding Rural Achiever.
To be eligible for the Miss Showgirl competition, entrants must be a young woman between the ages of 18 and 24.
The competition is a great way to represent the local community and be involved with the Gloucester Show.
The winner has the opportunity to represent Gloucester at the zone finals in Yamba in early February 2015 and possibly be part of The Land newspaper’s Sydney Royal Showgirl competition at the Royal Easter Show.
The show committee is looking for a young lady to act as an ambassador for rural NSW with official and informal duties.
Contestants will be judged on personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, presentation and speech.
Miss Showgirl is a great experience and lots of fun with the chance of some great prizes and a chance to be involved in Gloucester’s 2015 show.
The Rural Achiever Award is by no means a new idea, but is a new concept for Gloucester Show.
The award is open to male and female contestants between the ages of 20 and 29 who are passionate about the land.
The Rural Achiever is a little different to the showgirl competition and continues to offer opportunities to the next generation of agricultural experts for personal development as well as establish great contacts and networks within the industry.
The zone winners spend nine days packed with opportunity at the Sydney Royal Easter how and again, there are some great prizes on offer.
The local judging will be held on Saturday, December 6 with the winner announced that evening.
In early 2015, the show society will be looking for junior showgirls and, in another a new section, a junior stockman.
