The Magpies will look to build on their efforts from 2014 when the side was bundled out of the finals in the opening week.
Stroud has dropped back to the D grade competition after playing the past few seasons in the higher grades.
Magpies coach Jack Ross has his troops in peak physical condition heading into the derby but club president Mathew Higgins said player depth would be a huge test for the team in 2015.
“We’re still chasing numbers. More would be good,” he said.
The Magpies will hold a season launch at the Avon Valley Inn this Thursday from 7pm.
This Saturday’s game kicks off at 2.30pm at Bert Gallagher Oval. Full bar and canteen facilities will be available.
