GLOUCESTER MUFFLERS Division 2
Finals Draw 20th August are as follows;
9am Team 1 Bluelight vs Team 4 Autolec
Team 2 Barrington Trophies vs Team 3 Webbs
10am Team 5 Maslen's Hire vs Team 6 HSV
Wrap for Saturday 13th August
Autolec vs Maslen's Hire showed fighting spirit from both teams, with great defensive play from Charles, Luke and Bree keeping Light Blue goal-less in the early stages of the match. Kai kept putting the pressure on Maroon supported by Maddox and Austin. Great attitude and sportsmanship from all on the field made the game a pleasure to watch. Maslen's bringing it home in the second half, 4-2.
Webbs vs Barrington Trophies was another tightly contested match with both teams playing with great spirit and enthusiasm. Logan dominated in the first half for Red, scoring a hat-trick. Yellow tried to claw their way back but only managed to score 2 goals to Beau keeping the score to 3-2 to Red.
Bluelight vs HSV was the game of the day with a top and bottom of the table match. Green were determined to keep their seasons' winning streak alive, whilst White were bolstered by the return of Josh. White's defence from Bailey and Emma, and of course determined goalie Cody made scoring for Green more difficult than usual. Green worked equally hard in defence with Audrey and Jack never giving up. A fantastic game to watch with brilliant sportsmanship from all involved. Final score 2-2.
GLOSS-TER CARWASH Division 1
Finals Draw 20th August
9am Autolec versus Gloucester Bluelight
10am Yates and Twomey versus Accommodation Management Gloucester
Yates and Twomey v Gloucester Bluelight.
A great open game with Yates and Twomey doing most of the attacking.
Dylan Woodbine James McLeod and Kaito Sutton and Dylan Green were in great form up the front. Andrew Hughes and Tyler Cossar worked well together in defence.
For Gloucester Blue Light Cody Longbottom Ben Haynes and Billy Dulihanty combined well in attack. Tom Bandy Emily Murray, Mia Zvingulis James Terrace and Jacob Isaac were kept very busy in the middle and back half of the field.
The Final score was Yates and Twomey 8 Gloucester Blue Light 4.
Game 2 was an entertaining match. Good team for Autolec. Excellent work in attack fantastic work by Accommodation Managements goal keeper prevented a much larger score. Accommodation Management Baily kicked our first goal for the day and it was a power kick that went straight over the top of the goalie and landed beautifully. Amy put her body and head on the line numerous times throughout the game getting underneath the ball and making some great tackles. Owen was our goalie and defended our team with the incredible effort as always. It was a great game of soccer.
DRIFTA 13’S
Drifta 13s Undefeated at End of Round
This week Gloucester Scorpions 13s team, sponsored by Drifta Camping and 4wd travelled to Cundletown to play against the Cundletown Jets in the last round before finals hit. Some smooth passes between Kayden and Aiden, lined Zeke up for a top goal, with the ball gliding diagonally into the net within the first two minutes. Kayden was next to score with a sneaky shot sliding past the keeper. With the Scorpions keeping possession for the majority of the first half, Xander, Kelly, Lane and Josh peppered the keeper with some dominating attacks. Some great passing by Aiden and Xander provided Zeke with a super goal. Harrison, Isaac and Will proved to be too strong for the Jets in the midfield, barely letting a ball go past them. Making an excellent diagonal cross shot at goal, Xander slotted the ball past the keeper for our fourth goal just before half time. Straight after the restart, the ball went back to Xander for another attempt at goal, going one on one with the keeper, rebounding off him, Kayden then chipped the ball high at the keeper, making an excellent save.
With one minute into the second half, Josh made a great individual run down the side taking a shot at the keeper, it rebounded off him and then ricocheting off both teams in front of goals, it caused confusion of who had the last touch to the ball before going into the net, in the end it was Kelly who was awarded the goal. Kayden, Sam and Joseph followed on chipping the ball and keeping the goalie busy. Making a breakaway from the pack, Aiden took a shot, skimming past the post, but Josh was on the ready, unfortunately missing, putting his body on the line. Finding their way through us, the Jets came up close and targeted Zeke, who was having his first go in goals, provided the crowd with the save of the day. From a corner kick, Joseph slotted the ball nicely to Lane, having a go at goals, then rebounding off the keeper, to Josh who put an unstoppable ball past the keeper. Attacking the goal mouth from a few corner kicks, Joseph was even putting their keeper under pressure but it was a pass from Lane across to Aiden, then back to Joseph that caught their goalie off guard and scored into the top corner of the net. Tristyn, Jack and Hayden cleared every ball coming their way in the back line, providing us with a clean sheet.
Stepping up to the role of coach this week, Rob guided the team well into another victory. As the team became minor premiers, they will have a weeks break from competition and will play the following week against second place at a venue to be advised.
