Congratulations to the Majestic Family Store for achieving a Highly Commended in the 2016 Waste Less, Recycle More Award category, in the new Keep NSW Beautiful Blue Star Sustainability Awards.
It was among the three awards presented for Gloucester in the ceremony held in Orange last November.
The Majestic store has operated successfully in Gloucester since 1993; first in the Old Majestic Theatre, and later in its own premises, prominently positioned in Church Street.
All stock is donated, mostly recycled.
It aims to supply good quality clean pre-owned clothing to the general community at nominal cost and then direct funds to assist local needs.
So many local people, projects and causes have benefited over the years from the contribution of the Majestic Family Store to our community.
The store works in partnership with many agencies in town, including Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Group, the Recycling Centre, Gloucester Charities, Gloucester Security, sporting clubs, schools and the Service Clubs, as well as, being a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
All staff are volunteers who keep busy by serving, sorting, restocking and preparing items for sale by washing, ironing and mending as well as helping to make the store a pleasant place to work and shop by cleaning and tidying.
It’s a great place for locals and visitors to explore and discover many pre-loved treasures, memories and very useful items.
Your donations and purchases help the Majestic Family Store continue its good work.
The Keep NSW Beautiful Blue Star Sustainability Awards replaced the better known, NSW Tidy Town awards two years ago.
They recognise and celebrate the hard work of NSW citizens who promote responsible environmental management in their local area.
Being truly ‘sustainable’ means addressing the entire spectrum of environmental, social and economic factors. So our awards recognise civic pride, community spirit and future planning in establishing the best projects and programs to come out of NSW communities.
