The Swans will be visiting a number of local schools and hosting a free session at Johnny Martin Oval with the Manning Valley Mustangs Australian Football Club.
“The Swans continue to consistently show their support for the local area and growth of Australian Rules Football,’’ Mustangs president Jeremy Thornton said.
“They have been visiting for over six years now and they help us in promoting the game to school aged children and getting registrations for the forth coming season.”
Manning Valley Mustangs had a stunning first year in the Mid North Coast AFL under 11 competition, just missing out on a maiden finals berth.
The Mustangs also produced two junior representative players and captain Jacobi Shaw was named league best and fairest.
Jeremy said the club is looking forward to seeing a second team run onto the field this year.
“We have committed to having an under 11 and under 13 team in the Mid North Coast AFL competition this season. The interest is certainly there and we are confident we can source the additional players needed to run two teams,’’ he said.
“With a push into year six and seven by the AFL and Swans we hope this will bring more interest at the level we require.”
Registration is now open for season 2017 with children aged 5 to 13 catered for.
Both girls and boys can play and are encouraged to come along and experience Aussie Rules with the Swans on February 6 at Johnny Martin Oval from 3.30 to 5pm.
“We will be holding additional free ‘come and try’ days in late February and early March focusing on both Taree and Forster,” Jeremy added.
