Karen Boden: “Your passion and enthusiasm for teaching and for life was infectious. Your science classes were always filled with fun interactive learning and you always had time for anyone. I will always remember the fun science experiments and bunsen burners and periodic tables.”
Rebecca Keating: “RIP Mr Holland. Thanks for believing in me.’’
John’s daughter, Melissa Clarke responded to the comments saying: “He still loved seeing ex students. He remembered them all and was glad when they visited. He had difficulty communicating but he sparked up.
“Even in the last couple of weeks that dad spent in hospital, mum said he experienced a real lift in responsiveness when hospital staff he had taught or families of patients who were ex students stopped by.
“Thank you again for this overwhelming flow of beautiful comments.”
Professor Ian Plimer recalled his friend’s life when he delivered the eulogy at Mr Holland’s funeral.
