Two free buses were organised by the club to provide free transportation for patrons, picking up along the way from Gloucester and Forster, on the way to the Taree Racecourse.
Unfortunately, numbers were down from last year on both buses. With Easter weekend proceeding the event, organisers believe the date had a lot to do with the lack of pick up.
One of the punters on the bus from Krambach, who also attended the Hannam Vale Cup held in March, said there were full buses for that event.
Gloucester punters who did attend the race were in good spirits with many backing a winner.
This year’s event saw a new major sponsor, Bakewell Haulage from Wingham, which had previously been sponsored by Gooch Agencies in Gloucester.
Krambach Race Club has been running since 1882, when the small village (known then as Larrys Flat) formed the club and track on land owned by the Paterson family. In recent years, the club hosts three meetings a year at the Taree course; the Hannam Vale Cup, the Gloucester Cup and the Krambach Cup.
The committee is planning a number of social events preceding the Krambach Cup on Friday, October 20, including a Calcutta and a ‘Black Tie’ Gala Dinner, with the proceeds going to help local community projects and groups.
