A spirited mob of proud Aussies met at the Centennial Pavilion in Crescent Head to celebrate everything that makes our diverse multicultural society the envy of the rest of the world.
The Argus was there to capture all of the colour and excitement.
We asked some of the partygoers what they love most about their country and Australia Day.
Local woman Roslyn Clark is a passionate Aussie. She says Australia Day is a wonderful day to celebrate.
“It’s a chance to get together with family,” she said.
“Family is very important to me, especially my grandchildren.”
Frederickton resident Frank Qorraj moved to Australia in 1974 from Albania. He is a retired rigger and recently joined the Crescent Head Lions Club. Frank has two sons and six grandchildren.
“I love everything about being Australian,” he said.
Local Aboriginal artist Milton Budge said every day is beautiful.
“In one sense, I am me and you are you, but we are the same,” he said.
“The only difference is the colour of our skin.
“Australia is a beautiful country and we don’t mind sharing it.”
Kempsey man Nigel Anderson said Australia Day breakfast in the park is unreal.
“Thank you to the Lions Club for putting it on each year,” he said.
“I’ve been coming for over ten years.”
