Over the years a notorious stretch of the Pacific Highway at Telegraph Point has claimed several lives and seen a large number of horror smashes.
The death toll climbed again this week with a woman dying after a collision involving a B-double, two sedans and utility.
In the five years to 2016 there have been 54 crashes recorded on the section of the Pacific Highway from north of the intersection with Hastings River Drive to Telegraph Point.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has assured the community that Telegraph Point will be bypassed in coming months as part of the Oxley Highway to Kundabung upgrade.
In recent days the RMS has erected signage urging motorists to drive safely on the highway through Telegraph Point.
