Troy was feeling very happy with the progress he was making on the Friday during the three 20 minute practice sessions for the Supersport 300 and R3 class.
He made great progress and set a new personal best lap time during each session throughout the day.
Troy was feeling comfortable on each of the bikes and confident that he can get good qualifying times.
Saturday saw two qualifying sessions for both classes (each 20 minutes long) and two races (the Supersport 300 and the R3).
Troy again set more personal best times and qualified 12th in the Yamaha R3 Cup and 13th in the Supersport 300.
In race one of the Supersport 300 class, he had to work hard for his 12th place finish.
He backed it up with 10th place in race one of the R3 cup.
The weather in the morning on Sunday was looking really good, but it quickly turned terrible with very strong winds and massive amounts of dust blowing everywhere also making visibility hard at times.
In the first race of the day,the Yamaha R3 Cup, Troy got a reasonable start and with the strong winds it was so hard to hold his line.
He had a great battle to finish in eighth.
The second race for Troy was the Supersport 300. Again, he got a reasonable start and was having a great battle with another rider but unfortunately on lap eight in the last turn his front wheel hit the back of the other riders bike and Troy went down.
Next thing he knew he was sitting in the gravel trap in a daze as his helmet had a decent hit to the ground.
The racesafe medical team were there quick to attend to him, and this accident then caused the race to be red flagged.
After a visit to the racesafe centre and a check over, Troy could not get a medical clearance to compete in his last two races so that was his racing over for the weekend.
His mum was glad that there was nothing more serious.
Troy will be racing again in round three at the Bend Motorsport Park, South Australia.
Thanks for this round for the extra help goes to Darren at Race Centre with his advice to make changes to the bike every session and watched as he improved.
This kept Dad busy too. Doug, Troy’s brother also came along to help, Dad and Mum for their support.
Also, thanks to all Troy’s sponsors who make his racing possible: Taree Motorcycles, YRD Yamaha Racing Development programme, Kenma Australia, SBS Brakes, DNA High Performance Filters, Formaboots, West Sliders and Pannoz Haulage and Excavation.
