The Wingham community joined in as the special occasion was marked with good cheer, good humour and a slice of impressive birthday cake. Thank you to the Wingham community and library staff.
Hallidays Point Library has commemorated its 10th birthday.
These are both wonderful achievements and a reminder how important libraries are in our communities.
Harmony Day celebrations, in partnership with the Migrant Settlement Centre, drew a crowd of around 100 people to Taree Library. The day featured Welcome to Country by Aunty Wilma Morcome, the Wingsong Choir, and a banquet of exotic food for morning tea.
The other libraries held especially themed Storytime events which were well-received. Thank you to all those people who made this possible and supported us with such enthusiasm.
MidCoast Libraries are holding a variety of events for Seniors Festival which is April 4-15. There are movie screenings, meditation sessions, a Golden Oldies Bash, card games, painting workshops, a mind games and mindfulness event and sessions on seniors’ rights. If you’re interested in any of these go to our website www.midcoastlibraries.com.au and check out our special Seniors Week program. This is also where you can book into the events.
The library is the perfect place for author talks. MidCoast Libraries, in conjunction with Friends of Great Lakes Library and author Cate Dunn, attracted an appreciative audience of 50 to hear her speak about her book.
Following the success of his booked-out talk, ‘How to transform your life” at Taree Library, Mark Marcon will be giving another talk at Forster Library on Monday, April 30. This is based on the teachings and writings of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, a fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism. See the website to book your free tickets.
We will be closed over the Easter weekend so take the opportunity to check out Beamafilm, our online film streaming service. There are hundreds of independent and arthouse movies from around the world that can be streamed free of charge. See what you can find at www.midcoastlibraries.com.au/eservices
See you in the library.
