On Friday April 6, years three to six students laced up their running shoes and donned their school house colours to compete for house points and a place in the zone competition.
Students braved the hot, humid conditions with temperatures up to 28 degrees, powering on in the full sun.
The race was broken up into age categories with students aged eight to 10 running two kilometres and students aged 11 to 13 running three kilometres. The colourfully dressed students, each representing their house colours, were ready to run the course from 11am.
The course covered areas of Gloucester District Park, starting near Gloucester Olympic Pool, looping down along the Gloucester River and back up the pathway, finishing with a lap around the oval.
Litres of water were consumed in attempt to keep cool while watching fellow students cross the finish line.
The air was filled with cheering as students, teachers, parents and spectators encouraged the runners to give it their all.
