The Mid Coast Bush Fire Management Committee is seeking community feedback on a draft bush fire risk management plan (BFRMP).
A BFRMP is a comprehensive document that maps and describes the level of bush fire risk across an area and the proposed treatments to minimise and mitigate the risk.
The plan identifies bush fire issues, assets at risk, assesses the level of risk and establishes treatment strategies to minimise the risk and who is responsible for carrying out the treatments identified.
The plan in on full time display at MidCoast Council’s Taree, Forster and Gloucester administration centres as well as the Bulahdelah Transaction Centre and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council chambers.
Mid Coast Bush Fire Management Committee chairperson Matthew Bailey said feedback is essential to creating a credible plan.
“This is an important document that aims to protect our community and assets,” Mr Bailey said.
“Everyone should take the opportunity to have a look at the plan to ensure that their views are addressed.”
The plan will also be shown at several locations across the district.
It will feature at the Taree Fire Control Centre on May 3, Tinonee Rural Fire Brigade Station on May 8, Gloucester Fire Control Centre on May 10, Nabiac Rural Fire Service Station on May 15, Bulahdelah Transaction Centre on May 18, Stroud Rural Fire Brigade Station on May 22 and Tea Gardens Rural Fire Brigade Station on May 24.
Each meeting will be held at 7pm expect for at Bulahdelah which will be at 3pm.
The plan will also be showcased at Wauchope, Kew, North Shore and Telegraph Point.
