Lyne MP David Gillespie says the Federal government’s strong management of the nation’s economy is continuing to deliver important dividends to the people of Australia, including in Lyne.
“Our economic plan for Australia is clearly working,” Dr Gillespie said.
“As we continue to grow the economy, more jobs are being created and more investment is taking place, and this is providing us with the capacity to invest in more programs important to our region.
“Over 20,000 new home care packages have been announced, millions of dollars in additional funds for the Building Better Regions, Stronger Communities, rural health and sports program have been secured, and a record infrastructure roll-out can now proceed as part of this year’s budget thanks to the responsible management of our nation’s finances.”
He said the government was delivering tax relief with a focus on low and middle income households.
“We are responsibly returning the budget to balance, meaning that we can continue to guarantee the essential services Australians rely on,” he said.
Dr Gillespie said he would continue to work with local communities and councils to identify and develop local projects that would continue to boost the region’s economy.
“In this year’s budget, we are increasing total health and hospitals funding by 30 per cent, delivering a 50 per cent average increase per student in fair, real needs based school funding over the decade and more childcare support to those families who need it most,” Dr Gillespie said.
He said some issues the budget would focus on:
- delivering lower, fairer and simpler taxes
- backing businesses to invest and create more jobs
- building on legislated tax cuts for small and medium enterprise
